Dive into the River of Dreams

Your Summer Competition

This summer, the Waiora Manuherekia Project is calling on school students from across Central Otago to share what the Manuherekia River means to them through the River of Dreams competition.

Whether it’s the perfect swimming hole, a favourite fishing spot, or memories of riverside fun, students are encouraged to get creative and showcase their connection to the river.

Entries can take any form

  • Snap a photo of your family enjoying a day by the river.

  • Draw or paint your dream riverscape.

  • Write a poem or short story that captures your connection to the water.

  • Create a TikTok video of splashes, fishing, or riverside adventures.

  • Or come up with something completely unique.

Prizes

There are three $50 Prezzy cards up for grabs in each of the following four categories:

  • Years 1–3

  • Years 4–6

  • Years 7–8

  • Years 9–13
