Grow Native Plants at Home and Help Restore the Orkney Wetland

Ever wanted to contribute to a local environmental project but didn’t know how? The Thomsons Catchment Project has an easy way for you to help restore the Orkney Wetland in Ōmakau – right from your backyard.

How it Works

  • We provide free native seedlings, pots and potting mix.

  • You take them home and care for them as they grow.

  • When they’re ready, we'll organise a community planting day at the wetland.

  • No experience needed – just your time and enthusiasm!

Join Our Backyard Growers Workshop

Kickstart your growing journey by joining our workshop, where you’ll pot up seedlings and take them home with guidance from the team.
