Our flourishing environment
supports a thriving community.
About Waiora Manuherekia
Thanks to the Ministry for the Environment, we have received funding support to do something really cool in the Manuherekia.
Thousands of people live and work close to the Manuherekia River, its tributaries or receive water from the river directly or indirectly.
The Manuherekia River is at the heart of our region, and our catchment, and it connects our community is so many ways; through a special environment, recreation, economy and even spiritually.
The Waiora Manuherekia Project, from July 2024 to June 2025, will be focusing on connecting our community to the Manuherekia River, and carrying out environmental work to help improve and enhance this unique and special resource.
