Join the Thomsons Catchment Project this World Wetlands Day to celebrate the incredible progress made in restoring and protecting the Orkney Wetland, a vibrant five-hectare habitat in the Manuherekia catchment. The event will feature:
A guided tour of the wetland to showcase its transformation, with over 40,000 native plants and a range of bird species.
Updates on predator trapping and bird monitoring programs led by dedicated volunteers.
A look at the exciting next steps for the wetland, including the installation of a public viewing platform.
Nicola McGrouther, Thomsons Catchment Project Manager, encourages everyone to join the celebration. “World Wetlands Day is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and showcase the incredible work happening here at Orkney Wetland,” she says. “We invite everyone to come along, explore this special habitat, and enjoy some free ice cream while learning about the exciting developments ahead.”
